A leading supplier of nitrogen fertilisers

Acron Group produces a wide range of nitrogen fertilisers (ammonia, AN, urea and UAN). NPK also contains nitrogen.

The Group’s varied range of high quality nitrogen fertilisers ensures stable demand worldwide.

Key facts...

Nitrogen is an element that animals and plants need to exist and is contained in proteins, amino acids and nucleic acids.

...about Nitrogen

Nitrogen fertilisers are vital for ensuring the quality and high yields of almost all crops. Low soil nitrogen content inhibits the development of cultivated plants, so nitrogen fertilisers must be applied annually.

Nitrogen fertiliser market

Demand for nitrogen fertilisers is constantly on the rise. This is the most sustainable segment in the fertiliser industry, as the average annual growth rate of global nitrogen fertiliser consumption has been 2.5% over the past three years. The largest consumers (China, India, the US and Brazil) continue to increase their use of fertilisers.

Nitrogen fertilisers are vital for increasing crop yields. Thus, despite the anticipated reduction in the consumption growth rate in 2013 to 1.4% per annum on the back of the global crisis, demand for nitrogen fertilisers will grow almost everywhere.

Our development

After commissioning a new ammonia unit in 2015, nitrogen product capacity will increase 39% from 1.5 million tonnes to 2.1 million tonnes of nitrogen.

Additional volumes of ammonia will provide a raw material base for further expansion of nitrogen fertiliser capacity.

A growing area of expertise

Acron Group annually supplies the market with 0.4 million tonnes of P2O5 contained in NPK.

Once the Group’s independent phosphate raw material (apatite concentrate) capacity is brought on line, the Group will be able to increase output of phosphate fertilisers and enter the market as a high-quality raw material supplier.

Key facts...

Phosphates are vital for energy transmission, photosynthesis, biogenic matter transport, sugar metabolism, plant genetics and cell division.

...about Phosphates

Plants receiving enough phosphorous develop faster. Cultivated crops require phosphate fertilisers to fix root systems and increase resistance to droughts, diseases and frosts.

Phosphate fertiliser market

Demand for phosphate fertilisers expands unevenly and can show opposing trends. However, the average annual growth rate of P2O5 consumption was 4.2% in 2010-2012 on the back of increased imports by large consumers.

Shrinking imports by India are expected to influence global consumption, with the growth rate slowing to 0.5% per annum. However, this will be offset by increased consumption in other regions, particularly in China and Brazil.

Our development

The Oleniy Ruchey mine capacity is 2 million tonnes of apatite concentrate, which is equivalent to 0.8 million tonnes of P2O5.

The Group aims to minimise the cost of phosphate fertiliser production in order to increase its competitiveness in the global market.

A key area of development

Acron Group annually supplies the market with 0.4 million tonnes of K2O contained in complex fertilisers.

Only a few countries have major potash reserves. Acron Group has access to a unique resource base through its potash mine project in Russia and exploration of deposits in Canada.

Key facts...

Potash is vital for almost every stage of plant development, being involved in the synthesis of starch and proteins.

...about Potash

Application of potash fertilisers ensures high yields for major cultivated crops and improved quality and taste. Potash also increases the hardiness of winter crops and perennial grasses.

Potash fertiliser market

The potash fertiliser market shows opposing trends in demand every year, with global potash consumption growing faster than any other type of fertiliser – averaging 7.9% per annum in 2010-2012.

Moderate growth of 1.9% in the potash market is expected in 2013 on the back of increased volumes purchased by China and Brazil and decreased demand in India and the US.

Our development

The Talitsky mine capacity is 2 million tonnes of potash per annum, which is equivalent to 1.2 million tonnes of K2O.

An independent potash facility will allow the Group to minimise the cost of NPK production and ensure consistently high profitability.
